While with the Federal Police he was a member of the GSG 9 anti-terrorist special unit where he was involved in hostage rescue missions; he also formed new rescue teams. His work in the planning of the security measures for the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid led him to the FBI in Quantico in the USA as well as to other countries. Further involvement with overseas missions took him to England, Cyprus, Turkey and Somalia. Special training for negotiating in hostage situations rounds off his professional experience. Alongside his work in the above fields he also trained non-military forces for their intended deployment as bodyguards for leading figures in German industry and commerce. After leaving the German Federal Police he held managerial positions in corporate security and crisis management in international and national companies. In addition to his normal professional duties he was also in charge of security for the German Pavilion at EXPO 2000. During his professional career he developed special tactics and techniques for the avoidance of carnappings. Up to 2012 he was employed by an international energy supply company where he was responsible for the development of crisis management. He has been with Riskworkers GmbH since April 2013.
