In the special forces he was involved in several operations outside Germany. He resigned his commission in 2001 and joined the Security Department of a company in the DAX index of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange to gain professional experience in the civilian sector. He later moved to the Business Development Area of the same company where he was responsible for trend assessment and early warnings. He has been a security, risk and crisis management consultant since 2006. Oliver Schneider holds a qualification as an information broker from the Chamber of Trade and Industry and a bachelor’s degree in security management as well as a Master of Science degree in risk, crisis and disaster management from the University of Leicester in the UK. His overseas experience as a risk consultant includes periods in Afghanistan, Algeria, Brazil, Iraq, Iran, the Yemen, Colombia, Mexico, Pakistan and the Russian Caucasus.
